Henri Cartier-Bresson (August 22, 1908 – August 3, 2004) was a French photographer considered to be the father of modern photojournalism.
Henri Cartier Bresson has cleverly used the surrounding area to his advantage. He has used the stairway to walk his audience's eyes down the stairs. This makes the picture more interesting to look at as when you look at it more you find new thingsThe surrounding area looks like a small town in a foreign country, about mid-day according to the light. The man in this picture is wearing black clothing, contrasting with the surrounding space. This works well because the first thing you do when it comes this picture is look straight towards the man.
The straight railings represent industrial side to this town, whilst the man on the bike shows the other side which is free and exciting, the fact that there is no plants, backs up the industrialism in this picture.
Overall i like this picture mainly because of the contrasting colours that vary between the railings and the pathway. The simplicity of this picture makes you think how complicated our lives are. The photographer has a simple influence on everyday life.

Our original idea was to show how light travelled and bounced off of other objects.
We thought that if we shined a torch into a broken mirror and photographed the light coming off of it, it would represent our theme.
Our original audience was other students in the beacon sixth form.
when we actually started to take pictures, we then thought that it would be a better idea to still show how light travelled, but we would involve reflection.
This made the image more interesting because there were two different perspectives of the image.
These changes did not effect who are audience was because we didn't think that the changes were that drastic.
Our presentation will be on a black board, with the pictures surrounded by information. This idea has not changed due to the reflection idea.
Some of our audience commented on the picture below. They mentioned that it would be better if the image was cropped down to the point where you couldn't see the face or chest area.
